\"JuneThe CJNI was initiated by June Kaminski in 2006. June was President of CNIA in 2008-9, and Director of Communication from 2003 to 2012. She is currently President Elect of the Canadian Nurses for Health and the Environment;<\/a> President and Research Chair for Sigma Theta Tau International, Xi Eta Chapter;<\/a> and Editor in Chief of the Online Journal of Nursing Informatics<\/a> In 2012, June was honored to receive the CASN and Canada Health Infoway’s inaugural Nursing Faculty E-Health Award 2012 <\/a> in Ottawa Canada. She offers the Nursing Informatics Learning Centre<\/a> for nurses.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

EDITORIAL<\/h2>\n

\"EvolutionThe Canadian Journal of Nursing Informatics is in its ninth year and we keep evolving. One of the key changes for this year is the adoption of an online submission system. Our current email-based system has worked quite well, but the new system will help to coordinate both submissions and reviews, all in one place. Authors will be able to follow their manuscript\u2019s status in the queue and during the review process. Reviewers will be able to upload their input on manuscripts where authors can access their feedback and attend to revisions as needed. We plan to unveil the new system in time to accommodate the Fall 2014 edition submission deadline.<\/p>\n

We are also happy to announce our two new CJNI managing editors. Welcome to Thomas and William! Both are dedicated nursing and informatics faculty who bring a wealth of knowledge and skill to the journal. Thomas Pilarski teaches and practices in Toronto at Ryerson University and William Jun is an Adjunct Professor of Nursing Informatics at Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan. The Editorial Board looks forward to working with both Thomas and William in the months to come as we expand the journal and work on extending its reach across Canada and internationally.<\/p>\n

The Summer edition of CJNI will also bring a new columnist on board. Beth Cotter will be joining us to write a regular column for nursing students\u2026 in her own words, Beth envisions the column as, \u201cUnderstanding creativity’s direct correlation to passion, I would choose helpful items for the nursing\/health informatics student. Although the column would primarily focus on credible, informative or enlightening websites, I would like to incorporate reviews on technological gadgets and applications; unbiased commentary on existing associations to join; and discussions of helpful textbooks. Essentially, I would write on items to empower the NI student. It could be the computer savvy “Dear Abby” advice column for the NI student.\u201d<\/p>\n

While we are on the topic of nursing students, I would once again like to remind both faculty and students that we encourage students to submit their papers and other work that is related to informatics \u2013 ehealth, electronic records, creative apps, e-textbooks, or any topic related to using technology in practice, research, education or administration are all welcome. We feel it is important to nurture budding writers and researchers and will work with you to refine your manuscript or other creative work for publication.<\/p>\n
